Summer Concert Series

This Fishers Summer Concert Series kicked off last night and we are so excited about it - we just had to add a picture to the blog! This grassy town center area is about a 4-minute walk from our front door, and the Tuesday night concerts draw an average of 2,500 people. It is a fantastic atmosphere and we are so excited to make these concerts a part of our summer routine. This is also the location of the Fishers Farmer's Market every Saturday morning. We are really starting to love summer in downtown Fishers, and we don't even live there yet!

We have walls!

We are seeing some major progress these past few days as the finish deadline gets closer. Drywall is definitely the most dramatic change. It's starting to look like a real house!

Bye bye, porch.

Well, the old porch has gone to porch heaven and the new one should begin to take shape very soon. The concrete slab was jackhammered to break it all up, and then a Bobcat scooped everything out and into the dumpster. It's a bittersweet part in this remodel process since the porch was original and we had a hard time agreeing to get rid of something that existed when Teddy Roosevelt was president. In the end, though, it just had too much structural damage and the new porch will be much safer (and easier on the eyes.) We have saved some of the original brick, though, and will eventually incorporate them into some landscaping.

Lucky's Fence

My handyman husband has proven his skills once again with this awesome fence! This section lines the back of our property. Just creating the pathway to put the fence in was almost as much work as building the fence itself, but after some hard labor and two fairly intense encounters with poison ivy - Lucky did this all by himself! The rest of the fence will go in over the new few weeks.

Here's the good news: We have a huge yard! Here's the bad news: It needs a lot of work! Lucky and I are dedicating our Spring Break to cleaning this space up the best we can. The original plan was for Lucky to build a fence over break, but we quickly realized that overgrown brush and lots of gnarly trees have to come out before that can happen. The amount of work is pretty overwhelming, but we'll see what we can do!

Fin says he would much prefer a fence to a tie out! Hurry up, Dad!
